AP Chemistry -
Today we went through the complex ion power point on our own whatever wasn't finished in class needs to be gone over outside of class. We did the Ka by 1/2 titration lab. We took a quiz on the lab. We corrected 3.4 and were assigned 3.5. we will do the buffers lab next time.
Honors Chemistry -
Today we went over the entropy and gibbs free energy power point. I'll try and get it up on line. We got a worksheet (Hess' law) and a book work assignment 3.3. we did the Heat of Fusion of ice and the Heat of Combustion of a Candle lab today in class. We will do the Heat of Combustion of Magnesium next time.
If you haven't turned in your Student Release Form (Pink)...I need it right away!

Sorry a sub again. I went in for shots in my back. Doing better...but my appointment was originally at 7 am then was post poned till noon because of insurance problems. Remember, if your name gets reported to me as having caused a problem...it is an automatic U.
Honors/Regular - We picked up three labs to be put into our lab notebook for next time. We went to the library to work on our term project being the CEO of a company that needs a job that involves chemistry in the future (no more than 100 years). We worked in the library on a power point and a trifold pamphlet to e-mail to our instructor before mid February. We will correct the assignments 3.1 and 3.2 next time.
AP Chemistry -
You should have corrected assignment up through and including 3.3. You picked up 4 labs and need to have then put into your lab notebook to do any of the next imes in class. Make sure to read through them so that you are familiar with what needs to be done. You went to the library and went through the power points, acid and base equilbibrium on buffers and the power point on complex ions. I'll answer questions on Friday. Make sure that you keep up on your assignments on your calendar! 3.4 due next time.

Sorry sub today....I have hurt my back.
5th honors Chemistry
They need to do the lab that is on the back table. I have asked that Mr. Stevens to the North come in and help them with this. My gas will need to be turned on. They can do this lab as a lab table. Each side doing two kinds of the metal and then sharing the information. Basically this is how the lab goes. The students need to weigh each of the metals. Put the metals into water and heat them till boiling. "Tare" out styrofoam cup on the scale and then fill it 1/2 full with water and weigh. Place this into the large beaker. Then they will need to start up the program Easy data under the apps program on the computer. Remind them that they will need to take the temperature of the boiling water with one thermometer and the temperature of the cool water before transferring the metal to the cool water. Then they need to stir the water and take the highest temperature after. Then repeat this for the next metal. When their side is done with both metals, turn off the gas. Sit down with a computer for their group and bring up the power point Enthalpy and Hess' law under honors chemistry power points on my web site go through the whole thing as a group.
http://www.davis.k12.ut.us/webs/showell/hchempowrpont.htm
We will correct the assignments next time. Have them check there calendar for the assignment due next time.
6th and 7th are regular chemistry - 6th peer tutor is Ashton and he can help with the lab. Same as above except for the power point go to...regular chemistry and bring up the same power point.

8th AP chemistry -
Have them correct both 3.1 and 3.2 they will know where the answers are. Then have them get a computer as a lab group and go through through the rest of power points on acids and bases and the power point on Equilibrium in Acid and Base solutions.
Tell 5,6,7 not to forget their student Id's next time.
