Oct. 27 & 28 Wednesday and Thursday

Regular and Honors Chemistry -
We did an extra credit activity called "Formula Fued" with the other chemistry classes. It was a lot of fun! We also turned in any unturned in assignemnts.

AP Chemistry -
Finished the Term Final and then corrected it. Turned in the term (science fair, science olympiad, lab committee, or tutoring paper) 10% of your grade! If you forgot, I will be at the school from 1-2 pm. We worked on google docs "power point" for the Family Night Out with Science. Remember that I will need help the next few weeks in lab committe after school getting labs and the lab area under control. Make sure to check your google doc's for feed back on your demonstrations.

EVERYONE!!
1. Last day to take the naming test and have it count on this terms grade is Thursday.
2. All Chem Think assignments (assigned) are due by Thursday October 28 at midnight. After that they will be 0.

"Happy Accelerated National Mole Day!!!
Next Week we will celebrate Be-lated National Mole Day and B-lated National Chemistry Week because the real National Chemistry Week corresponds with red ribbon week.

AP (and Chem Club members) Don't forget your carved pumpkins. We will be doing self carving pumpkins and boo bubbles during lunch on Monday October 25th. Come to the commons and play with us.

Today we took a solubility quiz(Ion tournament (III)). We went over and reviewed empirical formulas, solubility rules, writing equations, naming, and everything that "might" be on the term final. We also finished up any lose ends. (Taking the naming test, or doing chem think assignments, finished labs...)

Don't forget Monday lunch to bring a carved pumpkin for an activity on belated "National Mole day and National Chemistry Week celebration" since this week was Red Ribbon Week.

Wednesday Oct 20

Regular Chemistry -
Today we corrected the mole packet. We received a Moles and more packet due next time and learned about hydrates. The period was cut short because of Red Ribbon Assembly, so lab will be next time. Dress appropriately! NO Sandals OR FLIP FLOPS!

Honors Chemistry -
Today we corrected the mole packet. We received a Moles and more packet due next time (except we will do problem #24?, the last one together) and learned about hydrates. We performed the hydrate lab. The period was cut short because of Red Ribbon Assembly. Remember your moles and verse are due Friday!

Monday and Tuesday Oct18 and 19

Well Thanks for missing me. This ended up being a clean up of what wasn't done while I was gone.

Regular Chemistry -

We corrected the w.s.4.2 Nomenclature I. We went over the rest of the Basic mole computation packet and it was assigned for next time.
Mole Day will be celebrated Friday 10/22 and Monday 10/25.
You need to make a mole with things that you have at home. DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY TO MAKE THIS MOLE! Use what you have at home. You need to name your mole as an element or a compound. Check out the web site if you need an example or google the National Mole Day Foundation.

2- You will need to create a verse (minimum of 8 words) made out of the chemical symbols. Examples of words would be WIn, SAt, or CaSe. This needs to be written legibly or typed and brought with your mole.

You need to print out the Hydrate Lab and get it into your lab notebook before class next time! Make sure that you read through it and answer as many of the pre-lab questions as you can!

AP Chemistry -
We corrected the book work. We tied up loose ends and worked on the Precipitation lab. Term Final will be on Monday.

Wednesday Oct 13

Sorry guys...doctor says I am out till Monday. So you get a sub again. Until then if they need help or need to re-take the naming test see Ms. Zachman to the south or Mr. Stevens to the North. Do not take anything out of your boxes since I have not been there. Yes it is ok if you need to print the homework in my classroom go ahead and do it.

1st Honors Chemistry -
Get up on the website and if you haven't finished the power points under #5 do so. Get the worksheet 1.20 More moles and complete that.
Then get into the lab area and get the hydrate lab written up in their lab notebook for next time.
Hold onto the Basic mole computation worksheet until I get back, we will correct it then.

2nd Regular Chemistry
-
Get up on the website and if you haven't finish going through the power points under #5.
Get the worksheet 1.22 from under assignemnts, More moles and complete that.
Hold onto the Basic mole computation worksheet until I get back, we will correct it then.

4th - AP Chemistry -
Correct their last assignment - It is in the AP Chemistry book by the elmo. Project it and have them turn it in.
I have put up a worksheet that I would like them to do. It is 1.9 Precipitation reactions. I have included two other things that will help them under that same heading in assignments.
After they have completed this, they can finish the pre-lab for the precipitation lab.
They also need to complete the AP chapter #3 power point also.
They can also use the time to complete the demonstration write up and powerpoint on google docs. Have them clear the demo with Mr. Stevens.

Honors Chemistry -
You needed to get on the computers and go through the power points of mole and quantities in chemistry. Finish up the packet from last time. Make sure to put in your lab notebook your at home label lab.

AP Chemistry -
You should have worked on your demonstration. The website under projects first term has the rubric that you will be graded with. Submit all through google docs. You should also have been told to get the precipitation lab set up in your lab notebook. I hope that you are keeping your lab notebook up to date!!!
