Today we took a quiz on the types of chemistry and chemical and physical change. When then started learning about the types of equations: synthesis(combination), decomposition, single displacement, double displacement, combustion, and acid/base neutralization. If you missed class you will need to read up on these. We also worked on a worksheet that is called "Voyage Through Equations". This is a 2 page both sides worksheet. It has three sections. In section one you are asked to identify the types of the reactions. In section two you are asked to balance the equations. In section 3 you identify the types of reactions, write the products, and then balance the reaction. As a class we did some of each section together. Then the rest was given as homework to be completed and ready for next time to correct.
A calendar for December and November was handed out. It is correct as of today...but it is only to be used as a guide. This blog will let you know exactly what we did in class each day.
There will be a pre-lab next time. Please bring your lab notebook and be prepared to enter 2.1 Precipitation Reactions lab.
We will choose new seats next time in preparation for the second term project. You will have this lab partner till January. Choose wisely! Be on time!
